Biography

Born in Minsk in 1984 Artiom started to study the violin at the age of five with Janna Kutchinsky and debuted as a soloist with the chamber orchestra from the Belarus State Philharmony when he was eight. From 1994 till 2002 he studied at the Republic Music College, then at the Belarus State Academy of Music with Eduard Kutchinsky, and in 2010-2012 as a postgraduate student at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts with Dora Schwarzberg.

Since 1994 Artiom Shishkov became the laureate of 19 International Competitions. Among them:
- Queen Elisabeth International Music Competition (Brussels, 2012, 6th prize)
- International Leopold Auer Competition (Russia, 2014, 1st prize)
- Yankelevitch International Violin Competition (Russia, 2013, 1st prize)
- International Max Rostal Competition (Berlin, 2012, 3rd prize)
- International Violin Competition “Torun 2007′′ K. Shymanovsky in memorium (Poland, 2007, 2nd prize)
- International Brahms Competition (Austria, 2006, 2nd prize)
- and many other competitions in Austria, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus

He has participated in various International Festivals, including Menuhin Gstaad Festival (Switzerland), Klara Festival (Belgium), Swiss Music Festival (Switzerland), GAIA Chamber Music Festival (Switzerland), Musica Mundi Festival (Belgium), Festival de l’été Mosan (Belgium), Podium Festival (Germany, Croatia, Norway, Austria), Arte Amanti Chamber Music Festival (Belgium), International Juri Bashmet Festival (Belarus), International “Art-November” Festival (Russia)

Artiom Shishkov has worked with such orchestras as The Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, The National Orchestra of Belgium, The National Philharmonic of Russia, Academic Symphony Orchestra of Kharkiv Philharmonic, Philharmonia Frankfurt Orchestra, State Chamber Orchestra "Moskovia", Moscow Chamber Orchestra, The Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio “Amadeus”, Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony and Chamber Orchestras of the Republic of Belarus.

His conductor collaborations include Eduard Grach, Agnieszka Duczmal, Augustin Dumay, Jury Gilbo, Yuriy Yanko, Michał Klauza, Michael Hofstetter, Vladimir Spivakov, Gints Glinka, Aleksandr Anissimov, Misha Katz, Yoel Gamzou, Valentin Uryupin, Alexander Sladkovsky, Claudio Vandelli, Konstantin Orbelian, Gilbert Varga, Vladimir Ponkin.

Artiom has performed with such artists as Sviatoslav Moroz, Jérôme Pernoo, Aiman Mussakhajayeva, Ivan Karizna, Alexander Sitkovetsky, Aaron Wajnberg, Andrey Baranov, Stefan Hadjiev, Gavriel Lipkind, Maxim Fedotov, Leonid Kerbel, Jérôme Ducros.

Dedicated chamber musician, Artiom Shishkov is the first violin of the « Lipkind Quartet ». In 2012 they recorded the album « New Worlds » which includes works of Barber, Bloch, Rachmaninov and Dvorak.

Between 2016 and 2020 he collaborated with choreographer Laurent Chétouane and participated in four different dance/music creations which were performed across Europe.

In 2018 he recorded an album released on Backlash Music with two works for violin solo of J.S.Bach: Sonata No.2 in A minor and Partita No.2 in D minor.

Artiom Shishkov performs both as soloist and chamber musician and combining his concert life with teaching and giving master-classes.
